
Juliann Welch, a native of Albany, New York, has studied horn since the age of 10. After attending the Interlochen Arts Academy, she received a Bachelor's of Music degree and Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. She began graduate work at Rice University before serving four seasons as fourth horn in the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Her primary teachers include W. Peter Kurau and William VerMeulen. Juliann joined the Sarasota Orchestra in the 2011-2012 season as second horn.
Juliann has been a member of the National Orchestral Institute, the Festival Institute at Round Top, and the Sarasota Music Festival, and acted as a substitute fourth horn for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Outside of music, her interests include an avid participation in literacy education; Juliann is proud to have volunteered with various literacy outreach programs and tutored wonderful young students in three states.
